In Which Melisan Blows up Eggs

So.

You thought I was going to blow up eggs, huh?
Run, my little pretties, as fast as you can...

Well…………

I AM.  Just not in the way you probably were thinking.

I, Melisan, am going to teach you the art of making a Hot Chocolate Soufflé.

A soufflé is an egg mixture that is usually combined with sweets or cheese in order to make a puffy and delicate treat. Soufflés are considered an art form (but really, cooking is an easy art form. you can make the most wonderful palette from very simple ingredients, but I digress...) If you can make a soufflé that doesn't fall, you're considered an expert chef.  My soufflés rarely fall now, but they did the first time I made them, and I'll tell you some of the secret tricks I used to help keep them up in the recipe.  The word “soufflé” comes from a French word that loosely means “puffed up,” which these delicious treats are when done right,  but taken literally the word means to “blow up.”

I, personally, like the second meaning I mentioned.

This post was inspired by a blog contest that Vidyala, the creator of Manalicious did recently. Her blog is here. I wasn't able to enter by the deadline, but I still wanted to post the recipe.

So! Here we go!

Wherein Melisan Twists rather than Bends

So today I’m putting down the old paint, pencil, and brush to take up…

Pliers?

Yes, my dear friends, pliers.

But not just any old pliers… JEWELRY pliers.  I have since finished (or at least finished what part of the series is out) a book series called the Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger, and it is a werewolf/vampire/saucy preternatural story set in a Steampunk world. (http://www.gailcarriger.com/index.php)

This book series, although I’ve done Steampunk before, has inspired me to create a Steampunk necklace out of watch parts. So, what is Steampunk, you ask? Well, let’s have Miss Carriger tell you that herself.   Her explanation is here, and she’s so much better at explaining it than I.
Some pieces I've made before

Let’s get started shall we!  Here’s what you need:

Inspiration—what it is

They say that there are no original ideas anymore.

Well whom, may I ask, is “They?”

We all know what THEY^ would say about art.

And who are “they” to say what’s original or not?  Art is and always will be a product of what the artist is inspired to do.  Who cares if it’s been done before? No one is going to have the EXACT same take on the EXACT same thing, even if you try to. What matters most is doing art that you are inspired to do…..

…Or if you prefer (and or can’t produce inspiring art 24/7), gathering art that inspires you.
